APAC ATI Program

APAC ATI Program

San Juan Capistrano, CA

The Program

This 10-month program will take place at Star Motors in San Juan Capistrano. The program will be a combination of classroom lectures and hands on learning in the shop. Since our training facility has both settings we will switch back and forth between the two.

Students will have access to the state-of-the-art tools and equipment at Star Motors.

The first 6-8 months will be at APAC ATI and 2 months will be spent doing an internship at Star Motors to ensure the students are ready to enter the workforce. Students may transition to full-time employment with the company they intern with or may be hired by a different firm.

We are looking to streamline the training process. We will take the quickest and most direct route to training all the skills necessary to becoming a productive technician in a modern repair shop.

Leadership & Culture

Partnering To Provide Employment

We are aiming to partner with qualified repair shops to accept our graduates as employees. We will have a set fee the shop will pay for the placement which will go back into the non-profit to perpetuate the program.

These shops will also have to pass a high standard screening. Shops must have strong leadership and culture, tool and equipment minimums, operating systems, ongoing education programs, employee benefits and paths toward advancement for the student. We may require shops to submit financial information to ensure stability.

Students will have a 12-month contract with the shop that can only be nullified if there are unsafe business practices or ethical issues. Employers may terminate employment without penalty for any reason.

We will be funded by several sources. Some of them may be:

  • Federal grants
  • Federal programs for veterans
  • State programs
  • County and local agencies
  • Churches and other non-profits
  • Individual donations
  • Corporate donations
  • Host repair shops

We will host fundraising events as well as social media campaigns to raise awareness and to raise money to operate the program.
